Three issues that need to be paid attention to in the construction of solar cables

24, Jun. 2024

The laying and construction of solar cables is an extremely important task. In order to ensure its normal operation, it is necessary to eliminate cable faults during the laying process. Then what issues should be paid attention to during solar cable construction:

            1. Eddy current caused by current

During the construction process, some solar cables use steel brackets or steel protective pipes, and some use cable clamps and overhead laying. Any steel closed loop surrounding the photovoltaic cable may generate eddy currents, especially in high-current photovoltaic cable systems, where the eddy currents are greater. During the construction process, measures must be taken to prevent the formation of a steel closed circuit around the cable to prevent the cable from generating eddy currents.

             2. Mechanical damage caused by cable rotation

Some large-size photovoltaic cables have large outer diameters, which make it difficult to transport and lay them. They also have strict requirements on the turning radius. If the turning angle is too large, it is easy to cause mechanical damage to the inside of the conductor. Mechanical damage is caused by the insulation strength of the cable until the failure occurs. When the equipment is connected, the connection length of the middle cable head should be shortened appropriately so that the three-phase cable head is not affected by an external force.

           3. Grounding problem of medium and low voltage cables

In the medium and low voltage solar cables, due to the unequal three-phase load, if a metal-sheathed cable is used, the grounding problem of the metal sheath must be considered, and at the same time, it should be ensured that the metal sheath is not grounded at any point.
