How To Use Camelcamelcamel

When it comes to finding the best prices online, it's not only about where you shop ' but also when. Prices on nearly everything fluctuate throughout the year, and it's frustrating to buy something only to see a better price for it a few weeks later.

CAMEL are exported all over the world and different industries with quality first. Our belief is to provide our customers with more and better high value-added products. Let's create a better future together.

Knowing when to look for sales is a great way to avoid missing out on the best deals. Camelcamelcamel makes it easy to compare Amazon's prices over time, which is a great way to plan when to shop.

In this article, I'm going to cover the basics of how to use Camelcamelcamel to compare prices over time.

This article was updated in October and I review it every 12 months. Detailed notes on all updates can be found here.

Getting Started

When you visit Camelcamelcamel.com you'll have the option to log in or create a free account, but an account isn't necessary to use the tool.

You can begin by browsing popular products or checking out the biggest recent price drops with the menu options across the top of the screen.

You can also look for a product using the search bar, or you can simply enter the product's Amazon URL, which is a little faster.

This Hamilton Beach electric stand mixer that was on sale for $219.99 at the time of writing (October 6, ). I simply copied the entire Amazon URL and pasted it into the search bar to track its price history.

In the top right corner, I saw the current price and information on whether it was available directly from Amazon or from a third-party seller. When I scrolled down, I found the price history graph.

The vertical axis shows prices while the horizontal axis displays the months and years. This product's price history went all the way back to December 6, .

To the right of the graph, you can choose a date range to view. You can also choose which sellers you'd like to track:

  • Amazon: This indicates the prices that Amazon itself lists for products in new conditions. This pricing will always appear as a green line.
  • 3rd Party New: This is the price that third-party merchants offer for new products. This pricing will always appear as a blue line.
  • 3rd Party Used: This is the price that third-party merchants offer for used products. Again, check the seller's ratings, history and return policy before ordering. This pricing will always appear as a red line.

The dotted lines on the graph mean that the product was out of stock during that time.

The Price History

I wanted to see the price history of this mixer from Amazon and third-party new sellers over the past year.

The graph showed that the lowest price this mixer sold for in the past year was $118.99 directly from Amazon. That price drop occurred in November , which tells me that Black Friday is a better time to buy this mixer!

I opened the search up to include past years to get a better idea of when this mixer is typically on sale. Then, I was able to see that Amazon had offered the same mixer for $113.59 in November . That further verified that November is probably the best time to make this purchase.

Another Example

In November , I tracked the prices of this 23andMe DNA test kit. Then, it was on sale for $99. In October , I checked the prices again. It had risen to $229! I wanted to compare these prices to to previous prices, so I copied the Amazon URL and pasted it into the search bar on Camelcamelcamel.com.

While the product was out of stock from Amazon, it was still available from 23andMe. I could see from the graph alone that this was nearly the highest price the DNA test kit had ever been at Amazon, so this would not be a purchase to make right away!

Looking more closely at the previous year, I could see that there were price drops around National DNA day in April, Memorial Day in the summer and again closer to Black Friday and the holidays.

Below the graph, you'll also find a table breakdown of the price history by the seller.

This is a great way to reference the highest and lowest prices quickly. You can also see a product's current price and compare it to the average cost.

The Bottom Line

If you're looking for the best time to find deals, consider researching a product's price history. To see a product's previous pricing at Amazon, follow these simple steps:

  1. Enter a product's direct Amazon URL in the search bar on Camelcamelcamel.com.
  2. Scroll down to see the price history graph.
  3. Select the sellers and date range you'd like to view.
  4. Look for the lowest prices on the graph and notice any trends. If the product is going on sale during certain months or holidays, that's when you'll want to shop!

There are two other great features available from Camelcamelcamel.

The first is the new browser extension: The Camelizer. You can download this extension on Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, Opera or Apple Safari. With the extension, you can easily check the price history of Amazon products without having to visit Camelcamelcamel's website each time. You can learn more about The Camelizer browser extension and find links to download it here.

Also, Camelcamelcamel offers Amazon Price Watches. If you know that you're looking to buy a specific product, enter it on Camelcamelcamel's website. Just above the price history graph, you'll see a place to create an Amazon Price Watch. There, you can enter an address and the price you'd like to pay for the product. If/when it drops to that price, you'll get an !

Keep in mind that Camelcamelcamel is tracking the product's price history only on Amazon.com. That means there's always a chance you'll find a better price available from a different store. For this reason, you should always be sure to comparison shop between vendors.

No matter where you plan on making your final purchase, take the time to check out the item's price history. This could help you plan when to shop for the best deal.

Here are 8 ways you can save money on Amazon orders

It's time for Amazon Prime Day ' one of the best times of the year to save money on everything from headphones to household staples. Whether you are gearing up to save some cash on Prime Day purchases or looking for deals on any of the other days of the year, here are ways you may be able to save money on your next Amazon "add to cart" moment.

Use points

After filling your Amazon cart, you might have noticed the "Shop with Points" option at checkout. But this is not always the best use of your credit card points from a monetary value perspective, as you can often get better value from your points when redeeming for travel.

But sometimes, promotions award money off your Amazon order even when using a small number of points.

At any given time, various targeted American Express offers give cardholders the opportunity to save. On Tuesday, TPG staffers with eligible Amex cards were targeted to save between 10% and 40% on Amazon orders using as little as 1 Amex Membership Rewards point. Offer terms vary, but the concept remains relatively the same. If one of these offers is available for your account, it can be a great way to save on your next Amazon order.

If you are looking for more details, kindly visit camel.com sign in.

You must link your eligible Amex card(s) to your Amazon account to shop with Membership Rewards points.

Earn bonus points with the right credit card

If you have an American Express card, see if you've been targeted for any Amex Offers. These offers vary from account to account and can be a great way to rack up bonus Membership Rewards points or save money on purchases you would make anyway.

Amazon periodically appears in Amex Offers.

The trick here is to check your Amex account frequently to see if you're eligible to earn bonus points or additional savings. You must manually add these offers to your Amex account and then use that card to pay for your Amazon orders.

TPG's June valuations peg Amex Membership Rewards points at 2 cents each, so getting 5 points per dollar spent at Amazon is like earning 10 cents in rewards per dollar spent. To start accessing these Amex Offers, a couple of good American Express cards to consider that don't even come with annual fees are:

Use an Amazon credit card

While we're discussing the best credit cards for Amazon purchases, let's talk about Amazon's own card ' the Prime Visa.

THE POINTS GUY

It doesn't have an annual fee, and new cardholders will receive a $200 Amazon gift card immediately upon approval. You can use the gift card straight away for Prime Day purchases. The card is only available to Prime members, so factor that in when deciding if it is the right match for you.

You can read our full review of the Prime Visa card.

The card usually awards 5% cash back at Amazon and Whole Foods Market; 2% cash back at restaurants, gas stations, and local transit and commuting; and 1% cash back on everything else.

Use coupons

This tip won't come as a surprise, but if you see a coupon available on Amazon, be sure to click on it.

You'll know if there's a coupon available for your item, as there will be an icon that says "Coupon" below the price. The coupon will be activated if you check the box next to it. Coupons are sometimes only for a few cents or dollars, but saving money is saving money.

Some items will also let you save by subscribing for repeat deliveries.

Track prices and set price alerts

It's hard to know just how good a sale is if you haven't been pricing a certain item for a while. One site that can tell you the historical price of an item on Amazon ' and even alert you to price drops ' is CamelCamelCamel.

This website can help you gauge just how good a sale is. If it's not an urgent purchase, you can also use this site to help you decide whether or not to hold off on buying an item until you get a better price through a sale or price drop.

Get credit for no-rush shipping or pickup

If you have time to spare, you can opt for no-rush shipping on your items and save them for an "Amazon Day Delivery." This way, you'll earn a credit that you can use for future digital purchases such as select e-books, music, videos and apps. The amount of the credit varies, but it often totals up to a couple of dollars in my tests.

You'll find this option during checkout when you're prompted to enter your shipping information.

If you decide to send your order to an Amazon pickup point (rather than your home), you may be rewarded with a promotion. In the past, we've seen $10 credits on future $20 Amazon orders by using a code and retrieving orders at an Amazon Hub, such as an Amazon Locker or Locker+.

Sign up for a free Amazon Prime trial

You also might be able to sign up for a free, 30-day trial of Amazon Prime. It's a great, free way to try out the service if you haven't already. You'll be able to receive free, two-day shipping on eligible items, and also get access to Prime Video, etc. After that, if you don't cancel, the plan increases to $14.99 every month.

Purchase Amazon gift cards

If the credit cards in your wallet don't offer any points or cash-back bonuses for Amazon, you can also purchase Amazon gift cards at grocery stores with a credit card that gives bonus rewards at that specific retailer.

For example, if you buy a $100 Amazon gift card at the grocery store and pay for that purchase with the Blue Cash Preferred® Card from American Express, you can earn 6% cash back on that purchase (on up to $6,000 per year in purchases at U.S. supermarkets, then 1%). Cash back is received as Reward Dollars that can be redeemed as a statement credit or at amazon.com checkout.

Bottom line

From having the right credit card to using American Express Reward Dollars for purchases, there are several ways to save money while shopping at Amazon ' bookmark this page for the upcoming Prime Day sale and beyond.
