How to install the solar grounding wire

1. Solar module grounding wire

1.1 The module frame is grounded

Many people think that the components and the support are metal bodies, which are in direct contact and conduction. As long as the grounding of the support is done, there is no need to ground the components. In fact, the aluminum frame of the module and the galvanized support or aluminum alloy support have been coated, which cannot meet the grounding requirements. Only when the grounding hole of the module is connected to the support can the module be effectively grounded.

Generally speaking, the component grounding holes are used for connection between strings, and the component grounding holes at both ends of the string will be connected to the metal bracket. In addition, the aging of the components may cause excessive leakage current or low insulation resistance to the ground. If the frame is not grounded, the system may not be able to generate power normally.

1.2 The component support is grounded

For the grounding of the modules, generally use 40*4mm flat steel or φ10 or φ12 round steel, and finally bury it in the ground with a depth of 1.5m. The grounding resistance of the photovoltaic module is required to be no more than 4Ω. For those that cannot meet the grounding resistance requirements, usually Add resistance reducing agent or choose a place with a low soil rate to bury it.

2. Solar inverter grounding wire

2.1 Work grounding

The general working ground (PE end) is connected to the PE row in the distribution box and then grounded through the distribution box.

2.2 Protective grounding

There is a grounding hole on the right side of the inverter body for repeated grounding to protect the safety of the inverter and the operator. The protective grounding of the inverter chassis can use a separate grounding pole, or it can share a grounding pole with the distribution box.

3. Solar distribution box grounding wire

3.1 Lightning protection grounding

The AC side lightning protection is generally composed of a fuse or a circuit breaker, which mainly protects against induced lightning or direct lightning, or other transient overvoltage surges. The lower end of the SPD is connected to the grounding bar of the distribution box.

3.2 The cabinet is grounded

The metal frame and basic steel must be grounded (PE) or connected to zero (PEN) reliably. The door with electrical appliances and the grounding terminal of the frame shall be connected by bare braided copper wire and shall be marked. The cabinet door and the cabinet body of the power distribution box should be connected with a jumper to ensure reliable grounding. All grounding wires of the equipment in the distribution box must be connected to the PE row, and then lead out from the PE row.
