Low end is still rich.

Lean it until a rapid throttle transition from idle to full bore hesitates. Then back off low end about 1/8th of a turn CCW.
Guaranteed.

Pull the plug, it will black and oily right now. SUre sign of rich low end.

They have to be leaner than we think. So does the 100.

It burbles and misses with or without the cowl on the ground. I always run it with the cowl installed in the air and it starts missing and burbling around 1/3 throttle and goes away at just over half throttle.

The mid range around 4000 to 6000 RPM is very inconsistent, it burbles and misses quite a bit. I’m guessing 10 to 18 misses a minute. I started running the engine with an NGK CM6 plug and it’s still on the engine. I’m going to try the Chinese plug that came with it, to see if it’s the plug or get a second NGK. I’m running 30 to 1 break in oil with 87 octane gas.

I have no hole cut for the carb in the firewall, It’s very close to an inch away just over 7/8 of an inch of space. Should I cut a hole??

Thanks
Geppino

Hi Bob, thanks for the info I’m not sure if I’m tuning correctly. The plug is black and oily and I agree that it’s running rich, but here is my dilemma >> I set my low-end needle as lean as it will go and still transitions without stumbling. If I go leaner by a little more than a blade width it will stumble at the beginning of the throttle up sequence. I set my high-end needle to max RPM and I backed it out until the engine dropped by 100 RPM. I did this after running for a couple of minutes, not a cold engine but not a hot engine either. I have checked the settings a couple of times and the needles are consistent, they always end up at the same settings, which is about a 1/8 of a turn in (leaner) than factory settings. It burbles and misses with or without the cowl on the ground.
