Last year, I bought a Karcher hard floor cleaner but returned it because it didn’t work as advertised. Instead, I decided to go with the Eufy Mach cordless vacuum and mop. Both companies provided their own cleaning solution and explicitly stated that using any other cleaning product may cause severe damage to the device.

Living in Tasmania, I’ve noticed that the department stores no longer stock the EUFY cleaning solutions in-store, so they have to be ordered online.
I’m curious if this is just a marketing ploy by the companies to use their cleaning solutions, or if it’s okay to use products such as Handy Andy, Pine O Clean, Ajax, etc. without any adverse effects.
If these products will cause an issue, is vinegar a safe solution?
I look forward to hearing what other CHOICE members have to say. Thanks!
Welcome @booragal
It’s important to avoid certain cleaning products because they will risk damaging your mop. ANKER -EUFY appear however to be attempting to lock the customer into their branded product by not recommending any alternatives or providing a basic specification for acceptable alternatives.
My usual technical point of reference for such products is the SDS (Safety Data Sheet) for the cleaner. For some reason it is not being returned by Google searches. However some of the competitors products are.
To note the pack shot I have of the EUFY bottle has a QR code link for support. Possibly worth asking. The listed ingredients suggest the concentrate is substantially water with added surfactants, detergent additives and fragrance. IE a very basic liquid soap, possibly not dissimilar to a cheap dishwashing detergent. Some of the other product choices you mentioned will contain oxidising agents, and have a pH, or additives that can damage your hard floor cleaner.

It’s possible the products recommended for other brands of competing mops could be suitable. I found at least one brand on Amazon claiming it was suitable for a long list of brands and models.
Hi @booragal, welcome to the community
May or may not be.
It is possible that using other non-OEM cleaning solutions may work just as well as the OEM products…however, if the non-OEM cleaning solutions cause damage to the vacuum it will most likely void any warranty or rights under the Australian Consumer Guarantee. The reason is that Eufy will argue that the substituted solutions was the cause of any fault. If the non-OEM solution manufacture didn’t state that their products were suitable substitutes for OEM Eufy cleaning products, they are also not responsible for any damaged caused. If the non-OEM manufacture did make such claims, then they would be responsible for any damage caused by their products.
The above also applies to vinegar.
If you plan to use non-OEM solutions in your vacuum, I would check out to see what the implications are. It might end up being far more costly to you than just buying OEM solutions online.
If the vacuum is out of warranty (and relatively old) and you are a risk taker, you could experiment with non-OEM solutions to see how they compare. But, they do have the potential to impact on the longevity and/or effectiveness of the vacuum.
(OEM = original equipment manufacturer which in this case is Eufy)
